  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced Use ripe strawberries for the best flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons sugar (optional) Adds sweetness if desired.
  • Fresh mint leaves (for garnish) Enhances presentation.
  • Butter (for spreading) Optional for adding richness.

Method

Preparation
  1. Spread cream cheese on one side of each bread slice.
  2. If using, mix strawberries with sugar and let sit for 10 minutes.
  3. Layer strawberries on cream cheese side of half the bread slices.
  4. Top with remaining bread slices, cream cheese side down.
  5. Trim crusts off each sandwich.
  6. Cut sandwiches into quarters or halves.

Notes

For a smooth spread, let the cream cheese sit out before using. Spread a thin layer of butter on the bread for richer sandwiches. Consider mixing herbs like basil into the cream cheese for added flavor. These sandwiches store well in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days and can be prepared ahead of time. Avoid reheating; serve cold or at room temperature.
