Preparation
  1. Mix the mashed potatoes, flour, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Knead lightly to form a dough.
  3. Divide the dough and flatten into rounds, about 1/2 inch thick.
Cooking
  1. Fry in butter over medium heat till golden brown on both sides.
  2. Serve warm with eggs, bacon, or more butter.

Notes

For perfectly crispy Irish Potato Farls, make sure your mashed potatoes are not too wet. If they are, add a bit more flour to the mixture. When frying, ensure the butter is hot but not burning to achieve the right crispiness. Flip the farls gently to avoid breaking them. Keep them warm in a low oven as you cook the rest.
